Key Stage 3

Syllabus

Until Year 9, students in England follow the National curriculum, so they are all taught the same content until they begin their GCSEs where their schools will pick a Syllabus to follow for their GCSE Course.

Year 7 Teaching Lesson

In this lesson we cover the Year 7 content of the Key Stage 3 course, your child will have one 60 minute lesson each Saturday at 12:40-1:40pm. After the lesson, students will be set some homework to complete before the homework lesson the following Saturday morning.

• Fractions
• Averages
• Basic Algebra
• Angles
• Ratio
• Area and Perimeter
• Sequences
• 3D Shapes
• Graphs

Year 8 Teaching Lesson

In this class we cover the Year 8 content of the Key Stage 3 course, your child will get one 60 minute lesson each Monday 4-5pm where they will be taught topics from Year 8. Students will be set homework to complete by Saturday.

• Factors
• Estimations
• Circles
• Pythagoras
• Proportion
• Transformations
• Percentages
• Probability
• Similar Triangles

Year 9 Teaching Lesson

In this class we cover the year 9 content of the Key Stage 3 course, your child will get one 60 minute lesson each Wednesday 4-5pm where we cover the topics from the year 9 course. Students will also be set homework to complete by Saturday’s Homework Lesson.

• Cumulative Frequency
• Histograms
• Sectors and Arcs
• Calculations with Bounds
• Simultaneous Equations
• Trigonometry
• Proof

Homework Lesson

In this class we go through the homework for the Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 classes that have been set over the previous 7 days. Students should have already completed the homework by this lesson and identified the questions they have struggled with.

We will then go through the questions students have struggled with and ensure that your child fully understands how to answer each question.
